MANILA – The Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, popularly known as the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros, will open its doors but with a limited capacity starting Sept. 16.

In a Facebook post on Monday, the basilica said Masses would be open to churchgoers every day, from Monday to Sunday.

“Welcome Home! The Manila Cathedral, the Mother Church of the country, welcomes you back to our Eucharistic celebrations, as we open our doors to the public starting September 16, 2020, Wednesday,” it said.

Only 80 people are allowed during each Mass, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Churchgoers are reminded that face masks and face shields are required.

The Mass schedules from Monday to Friday are 7:30 a.

m. and 12:10 p.m.; Saturdays at 7:30 a.m.; and Sundays 8 a.m., 10 a.m., and 6 p.m.

The church is also open for private prayers from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The faithful can also stay at Plaza Roma, where communion will be distributed during Sundays.

Those who may not be able to personally hear Mass and the Eucharistic celebrations may do so online via live stream through its Facebook page and Youtube channel.

Church gatherings are now open to the public but only limited to 10 percent of the venue’s seating capacity in areas under general community quarantine.

Metro Manila and several other areas in the country are under GCQ until the end of the month, in an effort to curb the spread of coronavirus.
