MANILA – The remains of Joe Canete Linao, one of the Filipino crew members of Gulf Livestock 1 that capsized early this month in Japan, will be flown back home next week, the Department Labor and Employment (DOLE) reported on Friday.

According to the report of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Osaka, the body of the overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Barangay Cannery in Polomolok, South Cotabato, will be flown back to the country on September 17 via Philippine Airlines (PAL) Flight No. PR 427 from Narita STD (13:10) to Manila ETD (17:00).

The POLO added that the domestic transfer for General Santos City would be arranged by KorPil.

It also reported that the two survivors, Jaynel Rosales and Eduardo Sareno, will most likely be repatriated together due to their mutual request tentatively next week.

“Both were provided with all needed assistance, including personal needs, by the POLO.

They are in constant communication with their families in the Philippines. Both are active OWWA members,” the POLO said.

It added that Rosales will be discharged from the hospital today (Sept. 11) and will be brought to Hotel New Amami while awaiting repatriation.

Meanwhile, the POLO said the Japanese Coast Guard reported that patrol operations conducted until Thursday night “yielded no trail of the missing crew or vessel”.

The ship’s crew include 39 Filipinos, 2 New Zealand nationals, one Australian, and one Singaporean.
