4K new Covid-19 infections, active cases now 62K: DOH
MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday reported 4,040 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the country’s total active cases to 62,250.
In its daily Covid-19 bulletin, the DOH said most of the new cases were reported from the National Capital Region (NCR) with 1,813, followed by Cavite with 435, Rizal with 218, Bulacan with 195, and Laguna with 171.
Of the active cases, 88.8 percent have mild symptoms, while 8.4 percent are asymptomatic. Critical cases are at 1.7 percent and severe cases at 1.1 percent.
This also brings the total tally of cases in the country to 252,964.
The DOH also reported 566 new recoveries, pushing the country’s total to 186,606.
Some 42 deaths were reported, for a total of 4,108.
Nationwide, more than half of all beds available for Covid-19 patients are occupied, while 27 percent of the country’s 2,200 ventilators are in use.
Of the country’s 1,900 beds at intensive care units (ICU), 47 percent are currently occupied, along with 45 percent of the country’s 13,700 isolation beds and 48 percent of the country’s ward beds.
In the NCR, more than 60 percent of all Covid-19 beds are occupied, while only 38 percent of the region’s 895 ventilators are in use.
About 63 percent of the NCR’s 711 ICU beds are occupied, along with 60 percent of its 3,900 isolation beds and 65 percent of its 1,900 ward beds.
In Region 4-A (Calabarzon), about 60 percent of all Covid-19 beds are occupied, while only 27 percent of the region’s 277 ventilators are in use.
Of Calabarzon’s 194 ICU beds, 59 percent are occupied, along with 57 percent of its 1,400 isolation beds and 64 percent of its 603 ward beds.
In Region 7 (Central Visayas), only about 29 percent of all beds for Covid-19 cases are occupied, while 26 percent of its 178 ventilators are in use.
