37 more Pinoys abroad contract Covid-19; total reaches 6.1K

MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday recorded 37 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) among Filipinos abroad, raising the total to 6,128.

The new cases were logged in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific.

Meanwhile, six new recoveries from two countries in the Asia-Pacific region and 11 new fatalities in the Middle East were registered, bringing the number to 2,849 and 483, respectively.

“With the hope our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, had for the future of this nation, DFA continues to tirelessly serve and assist our nationals in this time of pandemic, bringing home Filipinos affected by Covid-19, wherever and whenever possible,” the department said.

Today is the 159th birth anniversary of Rizal.

There are at least 2,796 remaining active cases abroad – 78 are undergoing treatment in the Asia-Pacific region, 538 in Europe, 2,022 in the Middle East/Africa, and 158 in the Americas.
