MANILA — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday reported 56 more coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases among Filipinos abroad, bringing the total number to 6,074.

Most of the cases are registered in the Middle East/Africa at 3,916, of which 2,018 are undergoing treatment, 1,691 have recovered, and 207 died.

“Today is the third day where the Americas ranks only second to Middle East in terms of the total number of fatalities,” it said.

The DFA also reported 10 new recoveries in the Asia Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East, raising the overall tally to 2,842.

Meanwhile, the death toll rose to 466 after it recorded 24 more fatalities in the Americas, Europe, and the Middle East.

The DFA clarified that the discrepancies from the previous figures were due to corrected entries of some countries in the Americas and the Asia Pacific.

The active cases currently stand at 2,766 — 83 in the Asia Pacific, 508 in Europe, 2,018 in Middle East/Africa, and 157 in the Americas.
