8 new Covid-19 cases; 13 recoveries among OFs: DFA

MANILA — The number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases among overseas Filipinos (OFs) has reached 5,369 after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) registered eight new patients Saturday.

The recoveries were also up at 2,225 with 13 more patients recovered from the disease in the Americas and Europe.

Meanwhile, two new fatalities were registered in the Middle East, raising the death toll to 363.

“Regional comparative data shows that to date, the Middle East has the highest recorded Covid-19 cases at over 3,300 and consequently, also in terms of total patients undergoing treatment and total recoveries at over 1,900 and over 1,300, respectively,” the DFA said.

On the death toll, the Americas still has the highest number of fatalities at 152, followed by the Middle East at 118.

There are a total of 2,781 Filipinos undergoing treatment as of posting — 265 in the Americas, 155 in the Asia Pacific, 454 in Europe, and 1907 in the Middle East/Africa.
