Singer Ice Seguerra took to Instagram on Wednesday, October 2, to open up to his social media followers about his fight with depression and anxiety.
In his Instagram post, Seguerra said he was diagnosed with the condition since the early 2000s but did not continue his therapy and just “lived with it.”
“It’s like a cloud hovering, hindi mo alam kung kelan ka tatamaan (You do not know when it will hit you). There are days na ok lang, kaya kong dalhin. Pero may mga araw din na gusto mo na lang matapos lahat, kasi pagod ka na (There are days that are okay, I can manage. But there are also days that I want everything to end because I’m tired),” he said.
The singer said his latest trigger was during his short stint in the government. In 2016, Seguerra was appointed as chairperson of the National Youth Commission (NYC) but resigned from his post in 2018, citing “personal reasons.
“
Seguerra decided to return to show business, an industry she thought she “knew,” however, she felt like she was an “outsider.”
“It got worse when I resigned and went back to the industry,” he said, adding, “Parang first timer na (It was like I’m a first-timer that) I had to navigate my way through things again. I felt lost and displaced.”
Seguerra said he could no longer feel anything about the things that normally make his happy and excited.
“I’m already introverted but at the height of my depression, I just wanted to be alone. Not get out of bed. No strength to get out of the room. Ayokong makakita ng tao (I do not want to see people),” he shared.
“If I have work, kumakanta ako pero wala akong nararamdamang kaba, lungkot o saya. Walang empathy. Walang passion. Wala. Kumanta LANG ako (I sing but I do not feel nervous, sad, or happy. There is no empathy. There is no passion. Nothing. I simply sing),” he continued.
But when his condition started to affect his relationship with his loved ones and his work, that is when he decided to seek professional medical help again this year.
Even though there are moments that he feels sad, the singer, however, said those were filled with more happy moments — thanks to the “strong support group” he has right now as he started “to feel things again.

In 2014, Seguerra came out as a transgender man. It was also during that year when he proposed to Liza Diño.
He started his showbiz career when he joined Eat Bulaga!’s “Little Miss Philippines” in 1987. Although he did not win in the contest, his career as a child star blossomed when he subsequently became part of the noontime show.
Seguerra then pursued a career in music during his teenage years, with his single “Pagdating ng Panahon” becoming a major hit in 2001.
