MANILA — Japanese apparel retailer Uniqlo on Thursday afternoon launched its winter/fall collection, and its partnership with various local artists.

The announcement coincides with the first anniversary of its flagship store, the largest in Southeast Asia, located in Makati City.

“Today, we recognize local game changers who help drive Manila forward. There are 10 local artists whose illustrations will be available for customers to use for their personalized t-shirts as we launch ‘”UTme’, our own digital t-shirt printing service, exclusive here at Uniqlo Manila, said Geraldine Sia, co-chief operations officer of Uniqlo Philippines.

Customers could use these designs on their shirts and tote bags. They could add their photos and some texts, too.

The available designs were made by Manix Abrera, Isabel Weber, Happy Garaje, Rob Cham, Ev Yu, Mika Bacani, Otto Bjornik, Myka Arnado, Auggie Fontanilla, and Soleil Ignacio.

Citing the company’s efforts to empower Filipinos to pursue their passion, Sia also announced Uniqlo’s partnership with world-renowned furniture designer, Kenneth Cobonpue, as well as with outdoor brand, Celeste Cycles.

Their works will be showcased in Uniqlo Manila.

The collaboration with local artists is part of Uniqlo’s “Our Future is Here” campaign, recognizing Manila as “a city full of life, diversity, and always moving forward,” Sia said.

Cobonpue was not able to attend the launch.
