Is Bookaway A Good Platform For Visits To The Philippines?

Published

on

If you’re considering going back to the Philippines to visit, or going for the first time to see your parents’ birthplace, chances are you’re planning to see a number of places. The best thing about visiting the Philippines is that you can never see everything. There are always more beautiful places to go, each with its own particular charm.

But going to places such as El Nido, Puerto Princesa, Boracay, and other stunning island towns requires quite a lot of traveling. For example, you may need to take flights, ferries, and car rides, just to get to one particular town.

The site Bookaway.com allows you to book ground and sea transportation tickets online. Is it any good? Here is what we found with this booking site.

A great aggregator

For a start, one of the most important features of Bookaway is that it does the work for you in determining the best ways to get to a certain place. Choose the departure and arrival points, along with the date you intend to travel, and it will give you various options, from ferries to trains, buses, and cars. You get a rundown of how much each will cost, how often they leave, and how long it will take you.

Doing the research on your own would be a lot more hit-and-miss, as well as exhausting, considering you would have to trawl different ferry sites, tour operators, and review sites.

An additional feature of the aggregator which impressed us is that it provides a range of options for luxury – or at least more comfortable – travel. If you want to rough it, that’s fine, but those who live for luxury can find luxury cars and vans, as well as first class ferry tickets.

The booking process

Most important is the booking process. Does Bookaway meet our standards for booking platforms?

Booking with Bookaway is indeed very easy. You choose your option straight from the comparison page and it will take you to the booking form. You just need to input your basic details and pay. It takes a matter of minutes, after which they send your tickets to your email.

Customer service is also important, considering that things can always go wrong when booking transport. Bookaway claim that they are available 24/7 for all customer queries or problems. This is a necessary feature, and its presence is crucial to Bookaway’s success.

One of the complaints some customers have had is that there is not yet a way to manage your bookings directly on the website. When we asked a Bookaway representative, they did tell us they are working on this and the feature will be added soon.

Conclusion

We found Bookaway to be very useful both as an aggregator and as a booking platform. The comparisons it gave us were very accurate and comprehensive, and actually making bookings (and cancelling them) was simple and seamless. With regards to the Philippines in particular, Bookaway provides all the options that are available.
