MANILA — Gerald Anderson and nine other screen actors completed a three-day Soldier Skills Orientation Training at the First Scout Ranger Regiment in Camp Tecson, San Miguel, Bulacan on Friday (August 9).

In a statement Saturday, Lt. Col. Ramon Zagala, Philippine Army (PA) spokesperson, said the training was in preparation for an incoming television show.

PA chief Lt. Gen. Macairog S. Alberto graced the event as the guest-of-honor and speaker and also conferred the rank of private in the Army Reserve Component to Anderson, Elmo Magalona, Yves Flores, Nash Victoriano, Joseph Porciuncula, Ryan Laurino, Jeanifer Aniscal, Jumar Aniscal, Jalil Laidan, and Anthea Murfet.

“Only those who have undergone a glimpse of a rigorous training of a soldier can understand and appreciate the great sacrifice that they give for peace and stability of our country,” Alberto said.

With the actors now part of the PA reservists, Alberto said these men also have taken on the responsibility to support the government in securing the peace and promoting the national development efforts.

“We ask you to help us in portraying our soldiers in the upcoming TV series that you will be a part of,” the PA chief added.

Meanwhile, Anderson expressed his gratitude for being given the opportunity to train with the Scout Rangers.

“Nakita namin ang kahalagahan ng mga ginagawa ng ating mga sundalo, nakakatulog kami ng mahimbing dahil sa inyo, dahil nandyan kayo para pangalagaan ang aming seguridad. Hindi namin makakalimutan ang mga aral na natutunan namin dito (We saw the importance of what our soldiers have been doing, we can sleep peacefully because of you.
