CHED welcomes new commissioner
MANILA — The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) on Wednesday welcomed its new commissioner.
In a statement, the CHED said President Rodrigo R. Duterte appointed Dr. Aldrin Darilag as a commissioner on June 13.
“Dr. Darilag will serve the unexpired term of former Commissioner J. Prospero E. de Vera III, who was promoted to CHED chairman in October last year. He will serve as CHED commissioner until July 21, 2020,” the statement read.
Under Republic Act 7722 or “Higher Education Act of 1994″, the President shall appoint the full-time chairman and the commissioners for a term of four years, without prejudice to one reappointment.
Darilag is the Human Resources Director of the De La Salle Philippines. He heads the Human Resources Commission of the Lasallian Network. He is also a former associate professorial lecturer at De La Salle University-Manila, Vice President for Academic Services at St. Paul University-Surigao, and Vice President for Research, Planning and Extension Services at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina.
The CHED said Darilag’s expertise in research and curriculum development “will significantly strengthen the Commission which is now composed of Commissioners Perfecto Alibin of Industrial Technology Education, Ronald Adamat of Indigenous People and Peace Education, Lilian de las Llagas of Public Health and Health Sciences, and Chairman de Vera of Public Administration and Social Sciences”.
His other areas of expertise include academic administration, research management, instructional supervision and management of extension programs and linkages.
Darilag finished his PhD in Education at De La Salle University-Manila where he also earned units for PhD in Science Education and took his Master of Education. He also earned a Master of Science in Medical Technology at the University of Santo Tomas. His baccalaureate degrees were nursing and medical technology.
