Twenty-year-old South Korean singer Bae Jin Young of the defunct Korean pop group Wanna One made sure to give his Filipino fans the experience of a lifetime, successfully holding his first solo fan meet in Manila last Saturday, May 18 at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City.
The event held by CDM Entertainment in cooperation with Do Concert and Search Entertainment, was entitled “I’m Young,” and represents the young star’s third time in the Philippines – the first during a group fan meet in October in 2017 and the second during a Wanna One concert in September 2018.
Bae Jin Young elaborates to his supports in the crowd, “Mabuhay! Ako po si Bae Jin Young. I was very nervous before coming out here. But with your support, I don’t feel nervous anymore.” Besides the interactions, he also performed “Hug,” “Oh Little Girl,” and “Eleven.” He also donned an all-black number while dancing to “The Hills” by The Weeknd.
When referring to the development of his career and character, Bae Jin Young tells the host of the event, MYX Philippines VJ Sunny, “now, I’m more confident to show a sexier or manlier side [of myself]. I haven’t been resting because, for me, I’m very happy when I practice to show you more sides of me.”
Bae Jin Young ended his event with the performance of his first solo single “Hard To Say Goodbye,” blowing out 20 candles of a birthday cake given by a fan to celebrate turning 20, days prior. He expresses his gratitude to the Filipino audience, concluding, “I want to thank you all. Thanks to you, I am able to stand before you.
I know you know me very much and I’m very, very thankful. I want to give back more. Mahal ko kayo. I will return the love you gave me. Please believe and stay with me.
Really, really, I love you, guys. I’m so happy to see you. I really enjoyed the show tonight and I’ll be back soon. Thank you. I love Manila!”
Manila is the first stop of Bae Jin Young’s Asia tour to promote “Hard To Say Goodbye.” He is set to travel across eight cities in seven countries.
