Duterte calls reelectionist JV Ejercito ‘my candidate’
MANILA – After previously endorsing several candidates, President Rodrigo R. Duterte also endorsed the candidacy of reelectionist Senator Joseph Victor ‘JV’ Ejercito for the 2019 mid-term polls.
“Senator JV Ejercito, kandidato ko rin siya (he’s also my candidate),” Duterte said in his speech during Tuesday’s groundbreaking of the new site of San Lorenzo Ruiz General Hospital in Malabon City.
Duterte cited Ejercito as one of those who pushed for land reform in Boracay.
In the same event, Duterte reiterated his support for the senatorial bid of his former top aide Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go.
Go, former Philippine National Police chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, and former Presidential Political Affairs Adviser Francis Tolentino, were the first senatorial candidates endorsed by Duterte.
The President earlier endorsed the senatorial bids of incumbent Senators Sonny Angara and Cynthia Villar, Taguig Rep. Pia Cayetano, Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos, and folk singer Freddie Aguilar.
The President has assured the country of a peaceful conduct of elections and a politically-neutral military and police.
