Beauty Queen Maggie Wilson reacts to receiving hate after Catriona’s Miss U win
Binibining Pilipinas World 2007 and now model/host Maggie Wilson is being haunted by a comment she made earlier in the year, causing a lot of hate on her social media pages that she has decided to speak up against.
Back in March, Maggie, along with Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago, did not shy away from sharing their opinions about Catriona during national pageant Binibining Pilipinas, specifically saying that there are more deserving winners for the ‘Best in Swimsuit’ award. However, after the coronation night of Miss Universe 2018 last Monday, December 16, Maggie shared via Instagram that Catriona’s win was “well deserved!” and that she had “already congratulated” the Filipino-Australian.
Netizens were fast to fire back at Maggie and gave her “immense backlash over something [she] said nine months ago,” which she responds to, saying, “I have made mistakes but have learnt and made peace with them and I refuse to be vilified by them. Your mistakes aren’t what defines you but it is how you behave and learn from them after you’ve committed one,” adding, “I’ve learnt and have chosen to be more understanding of the world around me. To be more sensitive towards people and my surroundings.”
Maggie admitted turning off the ability to comment on her Instagram posts, but she “switched [her] comments back on but will no longer tolerate negativity and hate on any of [her] social media pages” because “there is enough of it going around already.” She ends her statement, saying, “And just in case no one has told you yet, you are blessed, loved, appreciated, and yes, you matter.”
Upon hearing Maggie and Bea’s remarks after her Binibining Pilipinas Universe win months ago, Catriona also told her fans to “not be too overly sensitive,” because “Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.” In Catriona’s words, “Debating and stating your own opinion is okay, but let’s not retaliate with negativity. More love, more positivity.”
