Police nab BuCor Chief Faeldon’s son in drug raid in Naga City
The son of Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief, Director General Nicanor Faeldon on Friday, December 14, was arrested by authorities when it conducted an anti-narcotics operation in Naga City.
Obtaining a search warrant, the police force conducted the raid in a house in Barangay Mabolo at around 5 a.m.
According to the reports, those arrested individuals were identified as Nicanor Faeldon, Jr., Russel Lanuzo Bermudo alias Bubbles, Allan Valdez, and Manuel Nebres.
A total of seven sachets of suspected shabu were also confiscated by the cops from the suspects.
The BuCor chief, in an interview with ANC, confirmed that his son was among those who were caught during the drug raid and was invited for questioning.
The older Faeldon, a former Customs chief who resigned following the controversy over the P6.4-billion worth of shabu that entered the country in 2017, said he will not “lift a finger” to influence the ongoing investigation of the police.
If proven that his son is indeed into illegal drugs, the BuCor chief said, “What I can assure everybody is if my son is involved in any way, kahit user lang (even if he is only a drug user), I will resign immediately and hunt him down.”
“Ako na ang paparusa dyan (I myself will punish him). I would kill that idiot kung involved siya (if he is involved),” he added.
Nonetheless, the former Customs Chief believes that the younger Faeldon is “incapable of doing such [move].”
Malacañang, meanwhile, assured the public that there will be “no whitewash on the ongoing investigation in adherence with the administration’s firm resolve to curb illegal drugs in the country.”
“The Palace likewise commends BuCor chief Faeldon for taking a principled stand of distancing himself from the investigation, for letting police authorities do the job of probing the said incident, and for offering to resign once the allegation is proven true,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said.
If found guilty, Fealdon Jr. can be slapped with imprisonment ranging from 12 years and a day to 20 years and a fine ranging from P100,000 to P500,000, as stated in Republic Act (RA) No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
