An article regarding an alleged Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey on Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo’s state of mental health is “fake news,” according to SWS on Wednesday, October 10.

According to the article posted in the Daily Readers website, it said that the SWS found out that out of its 1,500 survey respondents, “45 percent” of them believes that Robredo has a mental problem, while “26 percent” doubted it and “29 percent” are undecided about the issue.

It added that many Filipinos in Metro Manila said the Vice President has a mental problem which is at +31, followed by Balance Luzon at +21, Visayas at +14, and Mindanao at +12.

Referring to this article, the SWS informed the public that it did not conduct any survey related to the state of mental health of any government official or individual.

“SWS strongly condemns the spread of misinformation with malicious intent,” the pollster said.

The SWS then advised the public to rely only on its official website, at www.sws.org.ph, for its survey reports.

Since she became the Vice President of the Philippines, Robredo became the target of numerous malicious stories and fake news.

Earlier, the Vice President uploaded on her Facebook a video of her, quashing false information circulating on social media against her such as she was behind the death of her late husband, former Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo, her supposed “boyfriends,” her alleged “pregnancy,” luxurious lifestyle, and her being tagged as a “fake VP,” among others.

In August, the Vice President urged the government to “take concrete steps” to address the proliferation of false information among Filipinos.

“A well-informed citizenry is of utmost importance to our democracy. This calls on all of us to stand against misinformation and fight to ensure that truth will always have space in our country’s conversations,” she said.
