‘Habagat’ to bring moderate to heavy rain

MANILA—Persistent moderate to heavy rain due to the enhanced southwest monsoon or habagat will continue Monday until Wednesday in Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4 a.m. forecast Monday that the affected areas include Metro Manila, Batanes, Babuyan Group of Islands, the regions of Ilocos, Cordillera, Central Luzon, Calabarzon and Mimaropa.

Western Visayas and the rest of Luzon will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, also due to the southwest monsoon.

The southwest monsoon is enhanced by tropical storm “Yagi” (local name “Karding”) outside the Philippine Area of Resposibility.

Residents in these areas are advised to take precautionary measures for possible floods and landslides.

Mindanao and the rest of the Visayas will be partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Strong to gale from southwest wind will bring rough to very rough coastal waters, making sea travel risky for small and middle-sized boats.

Temperature in Metro Manila ranges from 25- 27 degrees Celsius; Baguio City 16-19 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao City 24-31 degrees Celsius; Angeles City 23-28 degrees Celsius; Lipa City 26-30 degrees Celsius, Metro Cebu 26-33 degrees Celsius; and Metro Davao 24-31 degrees Celsius.
