PH pineapple juice, ramie export receipts surge
MANILA — The country’s receipts from outbound shipments of pineapple juice and ramie fibers have soared in the first five months of the year.
Latest data released this week by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) showed receipts from pineapple juice exports soared nearly 7,967 percent to USD3.04 million in 2018 from USD38,000 last year.
Ramie receipts also surged almost 451 percent to reach USD189,000 this year, exceeding 2017’s USD34,000.
Both commodities registered the highest export receipt growth rates among total agro-based products the country shipped out in 2018.
Total agro-based products the Philippines exported this year generated receipts of USD1.61 billion.
This, however, was 26-percent lower than the USD2.
17 billion generated from exports of agro-based products in 2017.
