Comelec sets deadline of political party registration on July 16
MANILA — Political parties that would like to register their respective organizations have until July 16 to file their petitions for registration in connection with the May 13, 2019 national and local polls, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Friday.
“However, since the deadline falls on a Sunday, submissions of petitions for registration of political parties will be entertained until 5 p.m. of July 16, 2018, Monday,” the poll body said in a statement.
The Comelec also reminded political groups that the deadline for registration of coalition of political parties is on Aug. 31, 2018, pursuant to Resolution No. 10395.
It added that petitions may be submitted before the Clerk of the Commission.
Applicants are required to pay a fee of PHP10,100.
Under Section 61, Article VIII of the Omnibus Election Code, “Any organized group of persons seeking registration as a national or regional political party may file with the Commission a verified petition attaching thereto its constitution and by-laws, platform or program of government and such other relevant information as may be required by the Commission.”
“The Commission shall, after due notice and hearing, resolve the petition within ten days from the date it is submitted for decision,” it added.
