Palace says Chinese military plane landed in Davao only to refuel

Malacañang confirmed the landing of a Chinese military aircraft in Davao City on June 8 but said it was there to merely refuel.

The presence of the Chinese military plane in the president’s hometown was confirmed by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), Roque said.

He further said that CAAP “verified and reported” that “no movement of passengers was made outside the terminal building.”

“The Chinese aircraft used a local handler, Transnational Aviation Support Service, to arrange the requirements for the permit,” he added.

According to Roque, the entry and exit permits that were given to the aircraft bound to Cairns, Australia is just like those given to any other private flights.

“The same courtesy is extended to Philippine Government aircraft when technical stops need to be undertaken,” he said.
