‘Huey’ helicopter makes emergency landing in Zamboanga City
MANILA — A Philippine Air Force (PAF) UH-IH “Huey” combat utility with tail number 504 made a precautionary landing after encountering an “in-flight emergency” while on training flight in Zamboanga City Tuesday afternoon.
Major Aristides Galang, PAF spokesperson, said the helicopter took off from Edwin Andrews Air Base at 3:30 p.m. and was on training maneuvers when it encountered an “in-flight emergency”.
This forced the pilots and the crew to made an emergency landing at Farm Zone 8, of Barangay Ayala.
“The aircraft incurred damages but the pilots and crew members were not injured. The PAF sent a team to conduct investigation,” Galang stressed.
The PAF operates 30 to 40 units of the “Huey” helicopters for transport, supply and medical evacuation missions.
