New Ebola death case confirmed in Congo
KINSHASA — A new death of a confirmed case of Ebola was reported on Thursday at the Bikoro Health Zone in Equateur province, southwest of the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to the Ministry of Health.
For the moment, a total of 52 cases of hemorrhagic fever have been reported in the region, including 31 confirmed of Ebola, 13 probable and eight suspected, according to Health Minister Oly Ilunga.
Launched last Monday, the vaccination campaign is underway in this region where the epidemic has been declared by the authorities in three health zones since May 8.
In a statement released Wednesday, the Minister of Health and other partners engaged in the response to the epidemic, including Médecins Sans Frontières, lamented the resistance of patients against treatment in isolation centers.
Two people have already died in their villages after fleeing the isolation center.
