Robredo on losing lead in VP polls report: Fake news
The Vice President facing an electoral protest by former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos slammed a report by media sites that said that her lead in the Vice Presidential elections in 2016 went down.
Robredo on Twitter quoted Philippine Star’s article saying, “This is fake news. Propaganda meant to condition the mind of the public.”
“Two weeks ago, PR (Public relations) stunt was we already lost 5,000 votes. Both are fake,” she added.
She also called out Marcos, tweeting “If you really won the elections, why the need for fake news?”

On another tweet, the Vice President said that she learned that the fake news came out on other news sites like Manila Bulletin, Manila Standard, The Daily Tribune, PTV (People’s Television) 4, and others.
“Huge PR stunt. Can’t come from a PET (Presidential Electoral Tribunal) insider, as they claim, because this is so far from the truth. We already know from which camp this comes from,” Robredo added.

She was reacting to the reports claiming that her lead of 263,437 was reduced by 21,000, according to a PET insider who refused to reveal his identity. Reports said that the supposed inside was not “of authority” to make a statement, that was why they chose anonymity.
The insider in the reports said that Robredo lost votes because of the 50% shading of ballots and “other votes deemed not acceptable under PET rules.” The Supreme Court (SC) sitting as the PET is heading the recount of the Vice Presidential votes in Marcos’s requested provinces.
Edu Punay, the writer of the Philippine Star report has not made any comments as of writing.
In a separate statement that Robredo made on the recent results of a Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey that showed her net trust ratings dropped, she said, “Humaharap tayo sa maraming balakid sa pagtupad sa ating mandato, kasama na ang maraming kasinungalingang ipinapakalat, sa pagtatangkang agawin ang tanggaping ito at ang mandatong ipinagkatiwala sa akin ng taumbayan (We are facing a lot of obstacles in complying to our mandate, including the number of lies that are being circulated, in the attempt of snatching this office and the mandate that was entrusted to me by the people),” she said.
