Pinoys arrested in Kuwait for enticing fellow Pinoys to leave employers

Two Filipinos have been arrested in Kuwait for convincing fellow Filipinos who are working as house helpers to run away from their employers.

According to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the Kuwait Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Sunday announced the detention of the two Filipinos. Their arrests were made due to “enticing female housemaids to escape from their employers’ households.”

The MoI said in a statement that during examinations, the two detainees have admitted that they have indeed committed the accusations against them and that they have also committed other several crimes in the other regions of Kuwait.

The two have confessed that aside from the group of housemaids they were caught convincing to escape, they have also managed to encourage more Filipino domestic helpers to do the same.

KUNA said that Kuwaiti authorities have launched probes due to the growing protests from their citizens over “domestic helpers being lured by strangers.”
