MANILA — The Gilas Cadets will take part in the FilOil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup that will kick off on April 21.

To be known as the Gilas U23, the team, made up of high school and college basketball stars, will debut right on opening night, taking on Ateneo in the main game of the Day 1 triple-header at 6:30 p.m.

Preceding the said showdown are two equally compelling match-ups.

Ateneo High School and La Salle Greenhills collide in a battle of champions in the lone juniors match at 2:30 p.m. while La Salle and University of the Philippines (UP) lock horns in the other seniors game at 4:30 p.m.

Ateneo, La Salle, UP, and the Gilas U23 Team are part of Group A, along with Mapua, Emilio Aguinaldo College, San Beda, Perpetual Help, National University, and University of the East.

The other seniors group is composed of Adamson, Arellano, College of Saint Benilde, Far Easten University, Letran, Lyceum, San Sebastian, Jose Rizal University, and University of Santo Tomas.

Like the previous seasons, the teams will engage in a single round-robin elimination phase within their respective groups – with the top four teams in each group facing off in the crossover quarterfinals.

The quarterfinal survivors will then clash in the knockout semifinals with the winners gunning for the title in the one-game final.
