‘Cocaine is coming in very fast,’ says Duterte
President Rodrigo Duterte raised warnings over the fast entry of cocaine from notorious drug cartels in Mexico and South Africa into the country, another problem that the government has to battle with.
The president said it is not only the proliferation of shabu that the government is fighting but also of cocaine.
“Cocaine is coming in very fast. The drug cartels from Mexico and South America have come in so we are dealing now with cocaine and shabu,” Duterte said during the 145th founding anniversary and 2nd Kanlahi Festival in Tarlac City on Wednesday.
With this added drug problem, Duterte vowed anew to continue the government’s war on drugs, saying, “I’m here to protect my country. I believe that if I stop this crusade, it would have compromised the country and the next generation.
Then it would have been my failure in my time that I did nothing.”
Moreover, in another speech during the meeting with local chief executives of Luzon in Clark, Pampanga on the same day, Duterte said that “by hook or crook” he will “finish off” drug syndicates.
“By hook or crook, long range or short range, I have three years, I will finish you off,” Duterte said, adding that he does not care about the criticisms of human rights groups as it would not help the country.
