BACOLOD CITY— The Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) vowed to sustain its internal cleansing campaign among its ranks in Western Visayas.

Superintendent Gilbert Gorero, spokesperson of PRO-6, said they were going after the “bad eggs” who didn’t have a place in the police service.

“The PRO-6 does not tolerate any wrongdoing of its personnel, and gives emphasis on individual discipline,” he added.

After the salaries of Philippine National Police personnel, especially those with the rank of Police Officer 1, have been doubled, there is really no reason for policemen to fool around, the PRO-6 spokesperson also reminded its personnel.

Latest data released by the PRO-6 showed that out of the 96 administrative cases it received in 2017, a total of 62 cases have been resolved, including the dismissal of 18 policemen from the service.

Also, 19 police officers were suspended and six were demoted. Salaries of two others were forfeited while one was penalized with withheld privileges.

On the other hand, 36 policemen were exonerated, or the cases filed against them were dismissed.

There are still 34 cases pending among those filed last year.

On weekly complaints received, the PRO-6 recorded 19 administrative charges involving personnel of Iloilo Police Provincial Office, which are under pre-charge evaluation along with one each for neglect of duty and less grave misconduct against personnel of Bacolod City Police Office.
