NLRC exec fined P1K for unauthorized law practice
MANILA — The Sandiganbayan has found National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) Labor Arbiter Alberto Dolosa guilty of violating Section 7(b)(2) of Republic Act No. 6713, or the “Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.”
The anti-graft court ordered Dolosa to pay a PHP1,000 fine.
It was established that from July 2005 to December 2014, Dolosa engaged in the unauthorized private practice of law by teaching at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) while simultaneously holding his government position as a labor arbiter.
During arraignment in November 2017, the accused, assisted by counsel, pleaded guilty to the charge.
Section 7(b)(2) of RA 6713 prohibits public officials and employees from engaging in the private practice of their profession unless authorized by the Constitution or law, provided that such practice will not conflict or tend to conflict with their official functions.
