Undefeated Pinoy boxer to make US debut in Dec. 22
DAVAO CITY – Undefeated “Magic” Mike Plania (14W-0L, 7 KOs) will finally make his debut outside the Philippines on Dec. 22 in Cancun, Mexico.
Plania of Sanman Promotions from General Santos City is facing Mexican Miguel “Demoledor” Tique (12W-10L-2D, 2 KOs) for 8 rounds.
“I am very happy to be back again. I will do my best in my first fight abroad. I want to thank Sanman Promotions and the Heavyweight Factory,” said Plania in his message on Facebook.
Plania’s manager Jim Claude “JC” Manangquil, CEO of Sanman Promotions said that his ward is now ready for his first fight abroad.
“This will be a good learning fight for him.
Thank you Heavyweight factory and our advisor Ricardo Rizzo for the opportunity,” Mananguil said.
Plania has been training in Miami with Cuban Coach Osmiri Fernandez.
The 20-year old Plania previously stopped veteran Jetly Purisima in Round 5 last February 26 at the Lagao Gym in Gensan.
He is the only one left among the five US-based Sanman boxers, who have not yet made a debut outside the Philippines.
Plania won the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) International bantamweight title via a majority decision against Lorence Rosas at the Makati Cinema Square Arena in 2016.
Plania will only be making his second fight for this year against Tique.
Tique of Ciudad Del Carmen, Campeche has won his last two fights all by unanimous decisions. He first beat Jose Hernandez then crushed Joel Ruiz.
Tique fought but lost for the WBC Youth world super bantamweight title to compatriot Jose Salgado by a 4th round knockout in 2010.
Tique also earlier bowed to Salgado in their championship fight for the WBC Youth world super flyweight crown via a 6th round TKO in 2008.
“Tique is a tough Mexican and veteran fighter,” Manangquil added. (PNA)
