MANILA — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) urges the public to be vigilant and plan their holidays in line with weather forecasts, as the state weather bureau sees another weather disturbance coming.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is now closely monitoring another weather disturbance west of Mindanao, though still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

“The public is advised to regularly check PAGASA advisories, alerts, and bulletins. Families and individuals are strongly urged to plan their holidays in line with the official weather forecasts,” DILG Officer-in-Charge Catalino S. Cuy said in a statement Wednesday.

“Let us celebrate the holiday season with precaution. Please do not be complacent and take heed of weather advisories, as well as your local government units,” Cuy added.

At the same time, the DILG cautioned the people living in areas that are saturated due to heavy rainfall during the onslaught of tropical depression Urduja and identified by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau as landslide-prone, to take extra measures to check possible ground movements.
