Petron spikers a win away from PSL Grand Prix title
MANILA — Petron pulled off a 25-14, 25-21, 25-16 victory over F2 Logistics in Game 1 of the Chooks to Go -Philippine Superliga (PSL) Grand Prix best-of-three series at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan on Tuesday night.
Imports Lindsay Stalzer, 2015’s Most Valuable Player, and Hillary Hurley scored 20 points each as the Blaze Spikers moved to a victory of clinching their second Grand Prix title.
“Everything went on according to plan,” said head coach Shaq delos Santos after the match.
“We executed our game plan to perfection and everybody worked hard for this victory. We managed to hit our service targets and had defensive good reaction to their set plays. It was a good game,” delos Santos added.
Venezuelan Maria Jose Perez had 15 kills for the Cargo Movers, who are expected to bounce back in Game 2 set at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Meanwhile, defending champion Foton defeated Cocolife, 25-17, 25-16, 25-17, to pocket the bronze medal.
Jaja Santiago had 10 kills, four blocks, and three aces while import Sara Klisura and Dragana Perunicnic contributed 13 and 11 points, respectively.
