Cavite health caravan treats 215 patients with skin diseases

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite – Some 215 patients benefited from free skin consultations and medicines offered during a health caravan in Barangay Pasong Kawayan 1 here since Tuesday.

The patients, who were afflicted with scabies, athlete’s foot, psoriasis, eczema, ringworm and other fungal infections, as well as leprosy, were treated by volunteer doctors, nurses and technical staff from the provincial health office and the General Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Hospital (GEAMH).

Cavite Board Member and Philippine Councilors’ League President Kerby Salazar spearheaded the event with the provincial health office and GEAMH in observance of “National Skin Disease Detection and Prevention Week”, which is held every second week of November, as stated in Proclamation No.

110 signed by former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Also held during the health caravan was a lecture by Cristina Anne Buenaagua, regional director of the National Leprosy Control Program, to educate the public on the importance of self-examination and adequate skin care.
