MANILA — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) posted a strong revenue growth in its mid-November collection performance for collecting more than PHP3 billion.

Citing the preliminary collection data from the BOC Financial Service, Commissioner Isidro Lapena reported that they exceeded their daily collection target for November 3 and 10, collecting a total of PHP3.045 billion and PHP3.839 billion, respectively.

He added that these are 22.2 percent and 54.1 percent higher against the target daily collection of PHP2.492 billion.

Initial figures for the November 3 performance indicate the significant contributions from six collection districts, namely:

• Port of Manila, with PHP478.72 million daily collection, 19.

• Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), with PHP293.77 million daily collection, 36.7 percent higher against its PHP214.87 million revenue target;

• Port of Batangas, with PHP1.109 billion daily collection, 96.2 percent higher against its PHP565.32 million revenue target;

3 percent higher against its Php62.93 million revenue target.

Meanwhile, according to BOC Financial Service Director Cecile Marie Soriano, the increase in revenue on November 10 is initially attributed to the collection performance of the following districts:

• Port of Batangas, with an average daily collection of PHP1.940 billion, 243 percent above its daily target;

• Port of Cagayan de Oro, with an average daily collection of PHP85.67 million, 36 percent above its daily target;

• Port of Davao, with an average daily collection of PHP252.44 million, 244 percent above its daily target; and

• Port of Limay, with an average daily collection of PHP189.20 million, 115 percent above its daily target.

On the other hand, Lapena attributed the revenue growth to the increase in the volume of importation of motor vehicles in the Port of Batangas which has the highest percentage share in the total BOC daily collection.

“I am very optimistic that the figures can still progress once the rest of the outports submit their mid- November collection reports,” he said in a statement.

It can be recalled that on September 28 and 29, the bureau also posted more than PHP3 billion in its daily collection.

The October revenue performance also made history after hitting the PHP42-billion mark. (Ferdinand G. Patinio/PNA)
