ZAMBOANGA CITY — Cebu Pacific Air (CEB) on Tuesday announced that it is postponing the launch of its service between Zamboanga City and Sandakan City, Sabah.

CEB was supposed to fly four times weekly — Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays — the Zamboanga-Sandakan route starting October 29, this year.

The company, through Cebgo, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CEB, is set to use its fleet of brand new Aerei da Trasporto Regionale (ATR) aircraft.

“We apologize to all our partners, agents, suppliers, our stakeholders, and most importantly to all our guests who booked flights between Zamboanga and Sandakan for any inconvenience this postponement has caused. We had to make the difficult decision to postpone the launch of our Zamboanga-Sandakan service to give more time to work on operational details,” Alexander Lao, president and CEO of Cebgo, said in a statement on Tuesday.

The CEB said that passengers who booked a flight from Zamboanga to Sandakan and vice-versa, or a round-trip ticket will be refunded in full.

In addition, CEB will give each passenger a round-trip travel voucher that they can use for any other short-haul international destination of Cebu Pacific.

“We remain committed to flying between Zamboanga and Sandakan. Cebu Pacific will continue to support the drive for seamless logistics connectivity within the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East Asia Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA),” CEB said in a statement.
