LGUs, universities suspend classes after 6.3-magnitude quake Friday
MANILA, Aug. 11— The 6.3-magnitude earthquake that shook parts of Luzon Friday afternoon has prompted the following local government units (LGUs), universities and colleges to declare class suspensions.
Dasmariñas, Cavite – all levels, public and private
Olongapo – all levels
Subic – all levels, public and private
Taguig – all levels, public and private
De La Salle University – Taft, Makati, BGC and Laguna campuses
FEATI Univerrsity
Eulogio Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology – all levels
Manila Tytana Colleges – all levels
Philippine Women’s University – Manila campus
Polytechnic University of the Philippines – all NCR campuses
University of Batangas – all levels
University of the East – all levels
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded a 6.3-magnitude earthquake that jolted Nasugbu, Batangas at 1:28 p.
m. Friday.
The quake’s epicenter was recorded 5 km. southwest of Lian, Batangas, and Phivolcs said it is expecting aftershocks.
Intensity IV was felt in Calapan, Mindoro; Subic, Zambales; Rosario Cavite; Manila; and Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro, while Intensity III was recorded in Pateros City; Quezon City; Makati City; Malolos, Bulacan; Cainta, Rizal; and Calamba, Laguna.
Phivolcs added that Intensity II was felt in Magalang, Pampanga and Tanauan City, Batangas, and Intensity I in Talisay, Batangas.
