MANILA, Aug. 4 — In planning Marawi City’s rehabilitation, the government met and discussed with various officials, stakeholders and residents to build much better and resilient communities.

This was emphasized by Cabinet Secretary Leoncio Evasco during Friday’s “Bangon Marawi” forum held at the Conrad Hotel in Pasay City.

He said the meeting with various groups in Marawi City gave the government a very good basis in the proposed rehabilitation of the area which was heavily damaged in the ongoing fighting with Maute Group terrorists that started last May 23.

“This is all I can say, we are not only building houses but we (are also building) communities,” Evasco emphasized.

“Thirdly, we build to provide social services. Many would say that we have to provide to schools — schools for our brother Muslims. We build to provide an area where those who would go for agricultural production we provide them with land,” he added.

All these efforts are part of the government’s effort to protect the people and its compassionate character, Evasco stressed.
