Police station commander in Quiapo relieved from post

MANILA–National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Oscar Albayalde has relieved the commander of Police Station 3 in Quiapo, Manila.

Albayalde issued the directive on Tuesday relieving from his post Senior Supt. Santiago Pascual as station commander of station 3.

Pascual was replaced by Senior Supt. Arnold Thomas Ibay, the station commander of Police Station 2, with area of responsibility covering Binondo and Divisoria.

Albayalde said that Ibay knew the Quiapo area better, hence, it will be best for him to supervise the police in the area.

However, the NCRPO chief clarified that the relief of the station commander of Quiapo has nothing to do with the successive blasts in Quiapo, Manila.

Albayalde said that it is a “reshuffle” which is just part of the more stringent security measures being implemented in the area.
