Japanese nabbed in anti-drug operation in Manila
MANILA—The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Tuesday said operatives of NBI-Special Action Unit (NBI-SAU) have arrested a Japanese national in an anti-illegal drug operation in a hotel in Manila.
NBI Director Dante A. Gierran identified the Japanese national as Takahiro Yano who was arrested last May 13 on the basis of a search warrant issued against him.
The intelligence report received by the NBI cited that the suspect is engaged in illegal drugs activities.
The NBI seized during the operation 10 transparent heat-sealed plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance, one transparent heat-sealed plastic sachet with white crystalline substance placed inside a steel case with maxman label, and other drug paraphernalia.
Gierran stressed that the NBI continues to conduct its anti-illegal drugs operation against any group or individual with the restoration of its power to investigate cases involving illegal drugs.
Charges for violation of R.A. 9165 otherwise known as The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 have been filed before the Office of the Prosecutor of Manila against the Subject who is currently detained at the NBI detention facility.
