MANILA–The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Monday expressed confidence that the sole surviving Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) bandit, out of the 11 that landed in Inabanga town, Bohol last April 10 for a kidnapping foray, will be arrested very soon.

This was after government forces shot and killed his companion during an encounter at Barangay Kahayag, Calape town 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Gen. Restituto Padilla.

These bandits were headed by ASG sub-leader Muamar Askali alias “Abu Rami” and Joselito Milloria.

During containment efforts of the military and police from April 11 upwards, nine of them were killed along with three soldiers, a police officer and an elderly couple.

“One of them was killed, and the other, though reportedly wounded, was able to elude and now the subject of pursuit operations.
