MANILA—President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has named Department of Justice (DOJ) Assistant Secretary Aimee Torrefranca-Neri as new Associate Commissioner of Bureau of Immigration, replacing Mel Robles who has been tagged in the bribery scandal involving Chinese gaming tycoon Jack Lam.
In an appointment paper signed last Tuesday, President Duterte appointed Torrefranca-Neri to the BI with the position of associate commissioner.
Prior to her appointment in the DOJ, also by Duterte in August last year, Neri was a known women’s rights advocate.
Last April, Tobias Javier was also named as new Associate Commissioner of BI, replacing Al Argosino who also involved in the bribery scandal with Chinese gaming tycoon Jack Lam.
