MANILA–There is no evidence pointing to the terrorist group ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) to be behind the explosion in Quiapo, Manila last that injured 14 individuals Friday night.

This was disclosed on Sunday by National Capital Region Police (NCRPO) chief Director Oscar Albayalde saying that there was no indication from the evidences gathered by the Philippine National Police (PNP) that the terrorist group ISIS was behind the explosion.

Albayalde said they are now investigating the alleged claim of the ISIS, but as of the moment, “grudge” is one of the motives they are looking into based on the investigation of the Manila Police District (MPD).

ISIS was said to have earlier claimed responsibility for the Quiapo explosion.

The NCRPO chief said that it is easy to make such a claim and that there were also incidents in the past being claimed by the ISIS that they were involved so that they will be continuously “recognized”.

Earlier, Albayalde said that the blast incident in Quiapo was due to “gang war” between two groups.

He also disclosed that there were also other incidents in Quiapo that they have recovered “pipe bombs”.

As of Sunday, the PNP has identified “persons of interest” in connection with the Quiapo explosion.
