DPWH personnel, equipment on standby around CCP complex for ASEAN Summit
MANILA–Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) personnel will be on standby around the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) complex in Pasay City which houses the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), the venue of the 30th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit which will start on Wednesday.
According to DPWH-National Capital Region (NCR) Director Melvin Navarro, aside from some personnel, there will also be equipment that will be in place in case there is an emergency that would be needing such.
“May deployment kami. 24-hour deployment para sa ASEAN. May equipment at may mga tao para kung may emergency, may hingin equipment mga heavy equipment para kung may emergency meron pang clear,” he explained.
With this, Navarro noted that among the works that they conducted in preparation of the international event are the removal of three humps in the area, as part of security measures and the sealing of manholes in the complex.
“Security ang sinusunod namin dito. Pati mga humps pinatanggal. 3 na humps sa PICC area. Dapat ang dinadaanan nila tuloy tuloy. Hindi dapat mag slow down,” he said.
The DPWH-NCR official added, “Mga manhole. I-sealed. May cover na siya tapos aspalto namin. Para hindi mabuksan.”
The ASEAN leaders’ meeting will be held from April 26-29.
