Despite Romeo’s absence, GlobalPort too much for Mahindra after blowout result
MANILA–No Terrence Romeo? No problem!
GlobalPort leaned on its defense to topple Mahindra, 105-86, in their PBA Commissioner’s Cup match at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on Sunday night.
The Batang Pier limited the Floodbusters to less than 20 points in each of the first three quarters, while their balanced attack helped them open a lead as high as 31 points before settling for the 19-point endgame margin.
With Romeo out due to stomach pains, Stanley Pringle took over and shot 10-of-13 from the field for 24 points with three rebounds, five assists, and one block for GlobalPort, which has now won two of its last three meetings, leading six players in double figures.
Malcolm White added 16 points, 17 rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
Keith Wright, Reden Celda, and Philip Paniamogan combined for 55 points for Mahindra in a game where Alex Mallari was limited to only two markers.
