PHL condemns terror attack in Stockholm
MANILA—The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Tuesday strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Stockholm and vowed vigilance to prevent a repeat of such act.
A stolen beer truck was forcibly rammed into a department store in an appalling terror attack last April 7, killing four people and injuring 15 others.
“Nothing can justify this heinous crime, which is a direct attack on the democratic principles that both the Philippines and Sweden stand for. We must continue to be vigilant to prevent such acts from ever happening again,” the DFA said in a statement.
The DFA further said the Philippines joins Sweden in mourning the loss of innocent lives and prays for the speedy recovery of the victims injured by this terroristic act.
Earlier, the Philippine Embassy in Sweden, in a statement, said the attack is “also an attack that touches the rest of the international community, as it is a heinous affront to peace, human dignity and democracy.”
The Embassy is coordinationg with the Swedish police and has not received any reports of Filipinos affected by the incident in Stockholm, the statement further said.
It also advised Filipinos in Sweden to remain vigilant and follow local security advisories.
