Hitler look-a-like nabbed in Hitler’s hometown
A 25 year old man who has been calling himself as “Harald Hitler” was arrested by Austrian authorities Monday after being spotted wandering the streets of Braunau dressed as Adolf Hitler.
The man was arrested in violation of a 1947 Austrian law that makes promotion of Nazi Ideology illegal.
“Harald Hitler” was observed sporting Nazi regalia including having the late dictator’s physical features such as his moustache and hair style. He is currently detained in his flat in Braunau am Inn, known as Hitler’s birthplace. The man made no resistance during his arrest.
The court is yet to decide on the matter.
With a population of only 17,000 people, Braunau is situated between the borders of Austria and Germany. The place is currently gaining attention after the Austrian government declared the intent to acquire the house where Hitler was born. The government is aiming to transform the place in order to remove any signs that can be linked to Hitler, and it is seen as a place of pilgrimage to Nazi sympathizers and other far-right organizations who give high regard to the Fuhrer.
