DOT to put up tourist information and assistance center during Dinagyang Festival
ILOILO CITY –The Department of Tourism in Western Visayas will put up a Tourist Information and Assistance Center during the Dinagyang Festival to assist tourists who are coming to this city.
The center will be put up in front of the Amigo Terrace Hotel at Iznart Street, City Proper and will open from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on January 21-22.
In an interview Thursday, DOT-6 regional director Helen Catalbas said that tourists who are staying in DOT-accredited hotels are invited to drop by at the center to avail of their services.
They could ask information from DOT personnel regarding the festival, locations of establishments in the city, tourist spots in Western Visayas and any other questions and inquiries.
Catalbas said that snacks will be provided even as they are invited to take time to rest at the center.
A media lounge will also be provided where practitioners could stay, interact with tourists and gather information such as tourists arrivals.
The regional office of DOT will also be open 24 hours over the weekend to serve the requirements of tourists as well as local visitors.
Catalbas expressed optimism that more tourists will be coming to witness this year’s Dinagyang Festival.
She said that DOT-6 has recorded a significant increase yearly in tourist arrivals during the three-day period of the festival.
Likewise, she said that the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and other business establishments in this city could generate more income.
