MANILA—Moderate to heavy rains is expected over some parts of eastern Visayas and Mindanao on Thursday as the tail-end of a cold front continues to affect these areas.

In its 5 a.m. bulletin, state weather agency Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides will be experienced over central Visayas, Caraga, northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula and southern Leyte.

At 6 a.m., PAGASA issued the orange rainfall warning over Bohol and southern Leyte. Orange warning means flooding is threatening in low-lying areas and landslides are possible in mountainous areas.

Meanwhile, cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms is expected over the rest of Visayas and Mindanao and the province of Palawan.

PAGASA weather forecaster Gener Quitlong also cited that the northeast monsoon is affecting Luzon.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, on the other hand, will prevail over the rest of Luzon.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from northeast will prevail over the entire archipelago with moderate to rough seas, he added.
