PAGASA: LPA to bring rains over Bicol, eastern Visayas Tuesday
MANILA –A low pressure area (LPA) spotted off Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains over Bicol and eastern Visayas, state weather agency Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
At 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, PAGASA issued a red warning (rainfall) level over Sorsogon. “Flooding and landslide is threatening or expected to occur,” it said.
PAGASA raised orange warning level was raised over northern Samar and Albay. Under the orange warning status, flooding is possible or threatening in low-lying areas and near the river channel and landslides in mountainous areas.
Meanwhile, cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms will be experienced over Mimaropa, Calabarzon and rest of Visayas.
Partly to cloudy skies with isolated light rains is expected over Metro Manila and rest of Luzon.
Parly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will be experienced over Mindanao.
Weather forecaster Glaiza Escullar said northeast monsoon is affecting northern and central Luzon.
Moderate to strong winds will blow from northeast over Luzon and Visayas. Coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.
Elsewhere, Escullar cited that winds will be light to moderate coming from southeast to east with slight to moderate seas.
