Dayan faces contempt for failure to show up at House probe – DOJ chief
MANILA – Department of Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II said on Friday that Ronnie Dayan, the former driver and alleged lover of erstwhile Justice Secretary and now Senator Leila De Lima, is facing contempt for failure to show up at the resumption of the inquiry of the House of Representatives on the proliferation of illegal drug trade at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City.
“Bibigyan siya ng time to explain in 24 hours why he did not attend, otherwise pwede siyang i-declare in contempt,” Aguirre told reporters covering the DOJ beat.
Police authorities served a subpoena to Dayan ordering him to attend the inquiry at the House on Thursday, but he did not appear.
Aguirre also said he will order the Bureau of Immigration to issue a Lookout Bulletin Order against Dayan.
“Maglalagay ng Lookout Bulletin. Kasi hindi siya nagpakita sa House, baka siya ay saan na pumunta para, umiwas sa processes ng ating batas,” the DoJ Chief added.
