Blue Jays to host Orioles in AL wild card game
BOSTON—The Toronto Blue Jays will host the Baltimore Orioles in the American League wild-card game on Tuesday.
The Blue Jays wrapped up home-field advantage for the one-game playoff by beating Boston 2-1.
Toronto finishes the season tied with Baltimore at 89-73, but the Blue Jays hold the tiebreaker after winning the season series over the Orioles 10-9.
Toronto had clinched a second straight playoff spot with Detroit’s 1-0 loss to the Atlanta Braves about 30 minutes before the Jays’ game in Boston ended.
The winner of Tuesday’s wild-card game will play the Texas Rangers in the AL Division Series starting Thursday.
The Blue Jays lost in six games to the eventual World Series champion Kansas City Royals in last year’s AL Championship series.
